Joseph Lang arrived in Canada in 1954, already an expert European baker. Although he was born in Hungary, Joseph's family was moved to Germany in 1946 where Joseph became a baker's apprentice.
Joseph started working at Montmartre Bakery in 1963 as a baker, then took over ownership in 1969.
Though Joesph passed away in July of 2016, two of his sons, Bernard and Ralph, who have taken apprenticeships in the food industry became partners in 1993.
In the family tradition, they continue the art of hands on baking "from scratch", Watching over every ingredient and making sure that the result is a delicious and healthy treat.

"Best rye bread I have found outside of Germany so far! Your bakery is on my list every time I go to the city. Keep up the good work."
